The Journeyman Player’s Association and Board of Directors proudly induct Gregory G. Sowers into the Journeyman Basketball Hall of Fame.
Greg’s impression on the Journeyman program has been immense. He has provided Journeyman with hundreds of hours of volunteer service since 2003. Whether it’s making signs, planning events, attending board meetings, doing research, assisting with marketing or working the stat table, Greg provided his services out of respect and admiration of the program he helped establish. It was this dedication and commitment that made Greg an easy selection for the Journeyman Basketball Board of Directors in 2006.
Since then Greg has continued to support the program in a multitude of ways. His participation as a counselor in camps and clinics truly benefited the program. It was also Greg who created our tagline “What matters is how you play today” and he was a key member in Journeyman’s re-establishment of community service work and our focus on Character, Commitment and Community.
His infectious positive outlook on all situations is admired by staff and players alike. His ability to redirect a struggling athlete and get them to approach the game in a more positive manor is truly impressive. Every time Greg walked into the gym it was a more positive place. To an outsider, it was hard to recognize Greg’s own kids while playing in games because of his cheering and motivation of all involved. He was truly invested in the improvement of all Journeyman.
I hope that Greg understands how great his impact is on our community, our kids and our integrity as a youth sports program. Please join us in congratulating Gregory G. Sowers, a true Journeyman.
