Because of a true commitment to defense and for being a role model of consistency and dedication, our board of directors and its players association would like to induct Mason “The Squatch” Kasprzak into our Hall of Fame.
Although Mason’s nearly 6-year playing career was only in one division, his impact on Journeyman, his teammates and the various programs he assisted with, was great.
As a Senior Division Player, Mason focused on smart shot selection and superior disbursement of the ball. His shots were always high percentage and his concern for protecting the ball was on par with Journeyman’s elite. Half of Mason’s sessions were marked with field goal percentages above 50%, four of these being above 60%. Furthermore, Mason always finished in the top few in his division in rebounding.
Now the important stuff. Mason volunteered at community service events, instructional clinics, training sessions for younger athletes, divisional coaching, and a legitimate amount of volunteer statistical assistance. Mason did this with no thought of monetary compensation but just for the joy of supporting this program. Mason could ALWAYS be heard shouting his teammates’ names in motivational support and could never be accused of providing anything but positive energy.
Mason’s impressive reputation with SELECT Travel Basketball covered nearly 60 games of character, effort, humility, strength and great competitive nature. Mason never appeared intimidated nor defeated regardless of the score. Furthermore, he set a tone for the rest of his team to follow.
Some of Mason’s individual achievements include, Journeyman’s 63rd Session Championship Game MVP, 65th & 68th Session YAMO All-Star Game MVP, Best Defensive Player for Session 67, 68, 69 and 70 and Team Leader Award recipient for Session 68. Mason has achieved 26 Career Double Doubles, has earned Player of the Game honors 13 times and has been a YAMO All-Star 3 times! In lieu of our respect for Mason and his commitment to the program, we commemorated his final season with Sasquatch T’s for his team. Although this provided a visual memory of his tenure with us, the friendships he made here are far more valuable.
So to the Sasquatch, we remind him, the gym we occupy is always yours. We hope you continue to visit us when it fits your busy schedule. The student athletes at Journeyman can only benefit from knowing you. Any learning institution you join will see this immediately and treasure their choice in letting you join their team. Please continue to carry your phenomenal character everywhere you go, just ensure it leads you back to us often. Treat Journeyman’s gym like your forest. It is here that we will confirm that sasquatches are real. Please join us in congratulating Mason Kasprzak, a true Journeyman.
