We would like to share with you a journey that covered nearly 230 games over an impressive 9-year span. The journey is one of a young man that improved every aspect of his game and allowed the program to improve with it. Please help us welcome Quinn Salter into our hall of fame.
Quinn entered our gym In the Fall of 2015 and quickly committed to all that Journeyman stands for. Effort, enthusiasm, camaraderie and respect for the game are qualities that young Quinn took seriously right from the start. But to understand Quinn’s Journeyman career you must see the path and the development of his strong character along the way. There are few others like it. He came in with a passion for the game and never stopped improving. This can easily be seen when researching his statistical growth. Improving rebounds per game from just under 2 to more than 14, field goal percentages from 15% to 64% and free throw attempts per session from 0 to 50! And after you watch him play you will see so much more! But perhaps his most admirable quality was his commitment to his team and his friends. Qualities like these made Quinn a favored draft pick. Many divisional drafts shared the comment “Yes, we got Q!” And why not? Who wouldn’t want this type of energy and support on their roster. It was for these reasons Quinn was an easy selection for SELECT Travel Basketball.
Quinn could be spotted in the gym hours before his games supporting other players and being a part of the coaching staff and stat bench. He always completed tasks assisting the program in any way he could.
Some of Quinn’s individual achievements include JJE-54 Division 2 CE Coffey Award co-recipient, JJE-59 Division 1 Most Valuable Player and SJE-70 Senior Division CE Coffey Award Recipient. Quinn achieved an impressive 29 Career Double Doubles, has as earned Player of the Game honors 25 times and has made the YAMO All-Star roster 10 times!
When coaches talk about player improvement in the near future, they will share Quinn’s name. They will explain where he was when he started and how valuable he became throughout the years due to his impressive drive.
Quinn, you are always welcome here at Journeyman. You are a shining example of improvement and friendship. Your character is truly impressive, effort second to no one and improvement at the top of a list of nearly 3000! It seemed you were a Journeyman when you arrived on that day in 2015. Frequent our gym as often as you can and show young Journeyman what you can do when you are persistent. Please join us in congratulating Quinn Salter, a true Journeyman.
